Blue Nano Carbon Nanomaterials

Blue Nano offers seven different product lines of carbon nanomaterials:

Applications

Carbon nanotubes are already modern industrial staples and new uses are being discovered on a daily basis.

  • Conductive additives
  • Ultracapacitors
  • Nanotube-based transistors
  • Thermal conductors
  • High-strength structural applications
  • Scratch resistance

Characteristics

Carbon is the fourth most abundant chemical in the universe (by mass) and due its unique electron structure readily forms covalent bonds with itself and other elements. Thus carbon is chemically one of the most flexible elements known to man, as seen in the contrast between diamonds (the hardest material discovered) and graphite (one of the softest materials).

Pure carbon has a variety of allotropes, graphite, diamonds and fullerenes being three of the most common ones. Fullerenes break down further into bucky balls, nanotubes (both single-walled and double-walled) and nanobuds. Carbon nanotubes are some of the strongest and stiffest materials yet discovered.

Blue Nano Energy Products

In addition to selling raw carbon nanomterials, Blue Nano features a specialized clean energy product for lithium ion batteries. See the BTY-175 conductive additive.

Recent Developments in Carbon Nanotechnology

Functionalization of carbon nanotubes key to electrochemical nanotechnology

Work centered at the Beijing National Laboratory for Molecular Sciences has revealed that carbon nanotubes functionalized with -OH and -COOH compounds are ideal for electrochemical sensing and biosensing applications due to increased solubility in liquids and other unique properties.
